The Journal of Linguistic Issues is committed to transparency regarding the way it deals with scientific works, and within this endeavor, the journal is committed to neutrality in some cases where a conflict of interest may occur, in terms of its relationship with authors, editors, and peer reviewers.

This conflict usually occurs due to financial relationships between one of the parties to the publishing process and a certain entity (funding, employment, stock ownership, etc.) and is the most common, easiest to detect, and most damaging to the credibility of the parties to the publishing process.

In addition, conflict of interest can occur due to other reasons such as personal, or even emotional and intellectual factors.

These factors negatively affect the actions and decisions of the parties to the publishing process (author - referee - editor) and lead to bias.

- Authors: Conflict of interest occurs among authors in cases where the author's private interests affect the objectivity of the research, the accuracy of its data, and the validity of its results.
This makes peer reviewers question the researcher's behavior, judgments, and way of dealing with certain data contrary to what is expected, and whether this is related to special interests and concerns that may affect the objectivity of the researcher's scientific presentation.
Therefore, authors are expected - at the time of submitting the manuscript - to disclose any information about conflicts of interest related to certain commitments that may affect the author's objectivity in scientific presentation and issuing judgments within the scientific paper, including disclosing the sources of funding for the completed work and its sponsors.

It is also the responsibility of the submitting author to confirm whether the co-authors have any conflicts of interest.

Reviewers participating in the peer review process are also expected to actively participate in identifying cases in which a conflict of interest is suspected, including identifying relationships and evidence that could lead to a potential conflict of interest.
Disclosing such information is important in the publisher's readings in cases in which bias is suspected.
- Editors: Editors are also responsible for declaring any conflict of interest on their part, and apologizing in advance for handling scientific works if the editor sees that there is a conflict of interest that makes him unable to guarantee objectivity in the handling.

The editor must also ensure neutrality and avoid bias in selecting reviewers.
- Reviewers:
Associate editors must take into account the principle of conflict of interest when selecting reviewers, and this requires the editor to change the reviewer if the reviewer informs him of a conflict of interest.
The reviewer or assistant editor's concealment of a conflict of interest case will result in his membership being deleted and his removal from the journal's database.
